Textbook and course reader adoptions can be e-mailed to the Academic Materials Coordinator at, or submitted on paper.

Our Custom Course Reader Adoption Form lays out all the information necessary for us to create a custom reader for your course.

Colby's custom publishing program produces customized course materials, tailored to meet the requirements of Colby's professors, and the needs of Colby's students. Customized course materials eliminate the need for multiple textbooks, and allow faculty to select articles from a variety of sources.

Articles and books are intellectual property. Colby Custom Publishing secures copyright permission, and calculates, collects, and pays the proper royalties to copyright holders. We handle production of the coursepack and make sure it appears on the textbook shelves with the rest of the required texts for your course.

All the down-loadable forms on this web page are in Adobe Acrobat Reader format. Acrobat Reader is available on the Colby General Server, or over the Internet from Adobe's web site. Hard copies of the forms are also available from the Academic Materials Coordinator.

The Bookstore has purchased copies of a helpful booklet, Instructional Resources for Faculty, to assist faculty in requesting desk copies. The directory lists publisher desk copy contacts with phone and fax numbers. Copies of the booklet are available to Colby teaching faculty free of charge. If you need a booklet please contact us.

You can use this handy Publisher Desk Copy Request Form to request desk copies from the publisher, or devise one of your own.

The Colby Bookstore's Academic Materials Department handles traditional texts as well as coursepacks and digital textbook delivery.

Please contact us if you have any questions, or problems with your textbook or coursepack order. The Bookstore Academic Course Material office phone is (207) 859-5420, or you may send email (
